From Dr. Benjamin Nero, main story partner and co-director: “In this film, I present my story through a walk around the farm that my freed slave grandparents cleared, farmed and preserved for children and grandchildren.

This film takes the audience there in addition to having a school mate, Morgan Freeman, who is a part of my story, help it come alive. It shows two friends together who have known each other for around 75 years."

Based on Dr. Nero’s memoir and spanning decades of family history and roots in the segregated Mississippi Delta, Dr. Nero’s narrative unfolds as a pioneering figure in dentistry, breaking barriers as one of the first Black dentists in the United States.

The film also features Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, a close friend of Ben’s youth and adulthood, who attended the same segregated high school in Greenwood, MS, Broad Street High School.
